When you want to truly know a city you ask the locals. AVIA did just that, and here are picks and tips for diving into Savannah.

When Linda Wittish moved to Savannah, it was with the idea that she would stay a couple of years and then move to a larger city. More than 30 years later she’s still here, and more enamored with the city than ever. As editor of the venerable Savannah Magazine since 1998, it’s Wittish’s duty to be deeply embedded in the community. “Savannah Magazine showcases the best the city has to offer and has afforded me many opportunities to meet fascinating people and visit interesting and unique places,” she says. The driving force behind the magazine’s coveted annual “Best of Savannah” awards, Wittish stands as a curator of the Hostess City’s finest offerings, from the best local candy shop to indulge your sweet tooth to the most romantic spot to tie the knot.
